U.S. Veteran Mr. Glenn Samuel Winters, age 86, of North Wilkesboro, died Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Mr. Winters was born November 7, 1926 in Catawba County to George Samuel and Charlie Bell Huitt Winters. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a US Navy Veteran and a truck driver for Huitt Roofing Trucking. Mr. Winters was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charlie Winters, Jim Winters, Gene Winters; sister, Dottie Winters Jarrett; and step mother, Edna Wiles Winters.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Gladys Wyatt Winters of the home; son, Sam Winters and wife Debbie of North Wilkesboro; two grandchildren, Brandon Winters and wife Amee of North Wilkesboro, Brandy Winters of the home.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 o’clock Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Dr. Keith Franklin officiating. Burial with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard Post 1142 will follow in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 10:00 until 11:00 on Tuesday, prior to the service.
